Computer randomly shutting down and restarting
« on: January 24, 2010, 11:26 AM »

I have a AMD PC thats running windows vista on it. Few days ago it started to shout off by its self randomly. I mean not a proper shut down, more like power going off. And it starts right away and reboots. So pretty much the whole scenario is like pressing the reset button in the front.
And now the frequency of happening this is increasing and happens like every 20 or 30 mins.
Can some one tell me why this is happening, and what I can do about this.
Thank you

This usually happens due to a bad power supply unit (PSU). So check your PSU or plug in a new PSU and see whether that will fix the problem.
The other possibility is a malfunction of the mother board.
It is unlikely to be a software issue for the given conditions unless a error pops up or the screen of death pops up.

It should certainly be due to a bad PSU..
